Night at the Kit Kat Club

Last month, my friends (Photographer, Melina Vanderpile and Assistant Stylist, Victoria Brier) and I ventured out to see Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club with Orville Peck and took inspiration from this to the studio for the next shoot.

It all starts with the concept; from there, we pulled together a slew of pieces from the archive that we felt resonated with a modern fashion interpretation of cabaret performers. Into the suitcase those selects went for transport to the studio. We’re always working in terms of efficiency and so later, I enlisted my family to make some hats and masks for my sister’s 70th birthday (with this shoot in mind) which went from Happy Birthday… also to the studio.

With those general things worked out and some thoughts on the fly, our team was able to knock out a great shoot one night in studio. We love the simpatico and easy, fun creative moments when it doesn’t have to be a lot of stress and over thought. Im super happy with the fanciful performer showmanship on the down, dark side we achieved and the reminiscent look and feel of my career long love of Paolo Roversi.
