AI Versus the real thing!

While the world both embraces and fears the advances in technology; we need to know where the world is headed via practical application…well…in order to know where we ARE really headed. Im still a tried and true believer in the origins of marketing, photography, retail sales, catalog, e-commerce and social media. My background was shooting with real film and real polaroids and only had as many captures as there were on a roll of film to get things right. Still, we cant deny when the world is looking at different approaches and those old school things will be looked at, as they already are as novelty, romanticized and maybe even non-efficient and antiquated practices.

My early posts I talk about not being able to compete with the e-commerce production level of well funded, big retail companies. Even though I worked with many, I didnt have the time, patience or band with to even consider styling and shooting the standard selling shots and editorial or advertising shots with the professional, consistency and diligence that I know is required for that. Its been because of my great friends and interns that I have been able to produce some level of consistency and actual real shoots for my archive.

Today I worked in AI in order to generate my first AI models, my first AI images and my first AI social media posts. It was pretty fun and I have to say, I see the gap closing in on my ability to produce by myself, quickly. Ive been working in AI for a bit, using it for other things as well like running numbers, brainstorming strategy, comparing estimates and a lot of other business functions. It’s not fool proof. Ive actually found it gets confused very easily and it actually seems to forget very easily. The good news is, at the current time, if you know enough to pick up on errors, youre not going to be out of a job yet!

From a styling standpoint, whether Im styling in person or via my AI friend, I still have to be the expert who knows how its supposed to look.
